Patty and I like to start our weekend at Bon Appetit, which has a outdoor area overlooking the bay and the Dunedin Marina. They offer a full bar and feature a number of rum based specialty drinks. In addition to complete meals, they have a Tapas style menu. Last time we shared smoked trout with our drinks. The setting sun can be bright, so bring your sunglasses.

After a sunset sail on my son and his partner's boat, which he keeps in the Dunedin Marina, Patty and I took them to dinner in downtown Dunedin. We love Cafe Alfresco for its great food, reasonable prices and outdoor ambiance. It is situated right on the Pinellas Trail and there is alway lots to watch as bike riders, skaters and runners glide by. John ordered for the first time a chicken stir fry dish and was really pleased. Patty had her favorite blue cheese burger. One more reason to love Dunedin.

Walks are part of our exercise program. Several evenings  a week we take a 30 minute walk along Dunedin's linear park which borders St John's Sound. Even in summer there is a cooling breeze and always plenty to watch. Most exciting are the many Osprey that have nests high above the walkway. We watch them fish, feed their babies and sit magestically on tree and poles, sharing the sunset with us. We take Mooshy, our little dog with us and pass many other couples enjoying the sites and sea breezes.

Patty was lusting for a hot dog for lunch so we decided to try Fritzee Freeze on Patricia Ave. I ordered a Chicken Philly which was made to order and came hot and delicious. Patty's dog with the fixing was a buck and a quarter. We loved the root beer and promised to come back and try the 50 flavors of soft serve or perhaps a root beer float or a malted. We were impressed by the steady stream of customers and the quick service. A Dunedin secret.

I received a gift certificate from the Enchanted Branch Gift Gallery in Downtown Dunedin for Father's Day. Patty and I were looking for some decorating pieces for our newly expanded home.Marsha, one of the owners, and her little dog, Squiggy, greeted us and we enjoyed looking around the newly opened shop. We found the perfect pieces to put over our bed. The store is across the street from Kelly's restaurant and in a group of stores that are all full of interesting  and unique merchandise.

Auto Shine Car Wash is  Dunedin's  only full service car wash, but people drive from all over the north county to get their car washed here. For $10.95 a swarm of workers clean your car inside and out and even use compressed air to dry every crevass on your vehicle.Open seven days a week, they perform all car cleaning services including a variety of car detailing. Located on Main Street in Dunedin, Auto Shine Car Wash is a busy place. Be prepared to wait a half hour until the job is completed.

Want real New York Pizza in Dunedin, go to Mikey's on Main Street. The taste lets you know they use quality ingrediants and the secret touch is sesame seeds under the crust. They offer a full menu of Italian meals and great subs and cubans. I particularly like their vegetaian cuban.

August 1, 2008 The Blue Moon Inn Dunedin FL

Patty and I just got married last week and our guest stayed at the Blue Moon Inn on Alt 19 north of the center of Dunedin. This is a relatively new small inn that features very large rooms with vaulted ceilings and a terrrific and healthy, free breakfast for guests. Behind the Inn is a well appointed RV park. Rooms rates in the summer are less than a hundred dollars.

Our wedding reception was at the Dunedin County Club. We could not have been more pleased with the beautiful surroundings, the deliciously prepared and displayed food and the  attentive service. The club has a beautiful and historic golf couse and was once the home course for the PGA. It is open to the public for play.

Want to stage  your home before selling it? Or are you just bored with how your home looks and want a fresh look at a low cost? We asked Denise at Designer Difference in Dunedin to help us with a fresh look for our recently expanded home. For under $1000 we had a HGTV experience. We left in the morning and came home in the afternoon to an exciting and attractive home. She and her handy hubby moved furniture, hung curtains and pictures and accesorized every room beautifully. The Dunedin Causeway is a jewel of our community. Only minutes from anywhere in Dunedin, it provides space and amenities for swimming, fishing, boating, running, walking your dog, picnics and sunsets. At the end of the road you enter the award winning beaches and nature preserve of Honeymoon Island an you can catch the boat to the world's top beach, Caladesi Island.

The Living Room on Main in Dunedin has become one of our favorite spots. The atmosphere is smart and congenial and the tapas menu delicious and we feel very reasonable. Most week nights offer food and drink specials. There is music most night also. There is outside seating and it is dog friendly.

Pan Y Vino in Downtown Dunedin is the latest venture of the popular Mexican restaurant Casa Tina, just next door. The specialty of Pan Y Vino is wood fired pizzas. We recommend the fig and goat cheese combination. Prices reasonable...quality good.

We had a pancake breakfast this morning at the cafe on Honeymoon Island. For $6.00 you get four pancakes, sausage, coffee and fresh fruit, a fantastic view and cool breezes. A great way to start the day. Dog friendly at the cafe. Honeymoon Island also has a special dog beach, which we visited in the evening.
